Tasmanian Pulp and Forest Holdings

by John Dargavel

A group of thirteen sawmillers combined to form Tasmanian Pulp and Forest Holdings Pty Ltd to secure a large concession over state forests in Eastern Tasmania in 1968. It built a woodchip export mill at Triabunna on the East Coast and commenced exports in 1971.

The company was taken over by Associated Pulp and Paper Manufactures 1979 and subsequently absorbed into the Gunn’s group of companies.
