Leon B. Wilkie (1885–1956)

Mr. Leon B. Wilkie, who had been ailing for some time, died suddenly at his home, Hazeldene, Armadale, W.A., on 17th February at the age of 71. He was born in New Zealand and came to Western Australia with his father when 11 years old. His father was a well known contractor and built the railway line from Southern Cross to Kalgoorlie.

The late Mr. Wilkie lived at Glenlossie, Kojonup, for some years. He then moved to the Eastern Goldfields, at first to Edjudina Station, north of Kalgoorlie, and later to Melita Station, at Malcolm. Melita was sold in 1936, after which he purchased Invercloy, where he lived for a number of years, and in 1941 he purchased Wogarno, Mount Magnet, from the late Mr. W. McKenzie Grant. In addition to his station interests, Mr. Wilkie also owned the well improved property Hazeldene, a few miles south of Perth, where he and his wife were residing at the time of his death.

The late Mr. Wilkie is survived by his widow, his son Jack, who is in New Zealand, and his daughter, Mrs. Haldene, who is in England.
