Russell-Jones, Llewellyn Charles (1855–1912)

News of the death, at Southport, England, of Mr. Llewellyn C. Russell-Jones, solicitor, of Elmside, Cambridge-street, Stanmore, and of the firm of Messrs. Russell-Jones and Barker, was received in Sydney this morning, by cable, by Mr. John Russell-Jones, his son.

Mr. Russell-Jones was a prominent figure for many years in municipal circles. He also took a keen interest in politics. In 1886 he was elected an alderman of the Petersham Council. He continued a member until the time of his death. On a number of occasions he enjoyed the distinction of Mayor of Petersham. He represented Petersham in the Legislative Assembly in 1894. He held the seat till 1898, when he was defeated by Mr. J. J. Cohen. The deceased was a director of several well-known public companies, and was also president of the Welsh Society. He was one of Sydney's best known solicitors; having actively practised his profession for more than 30 years. In November last, accompanied by Mrs. Russell-Jones, he left for England, where his death occurred suddenly. The deceased left a widow and four children–Mr. J. Russell-Jones, Mr. R. Russell-Jones (at present in Edinburgh), and Miss Doris Russell-Jones and Miss Nete Russell-Jones.
