John George Robertson (1867–1933)

The death is announced of Professor John George Robertson of London University, and husband of "Henry Handel Richardson," the noted author who is a daughter of the late Dr. W. Lindesay Richardson of Melbourne. Professor Robertson had held the position of Professor of German Languages and Literature at the University of London since 1903, and since 1924 had been Director of the Department of Scandinavian Studies. He was editor of the Modern Languages Review. Born in Glasgow in 1867, Professor Robertson was educated at the Universities of Glasgow and Leipzig. He held the degrees of M.A., B.Sc. (Glasgow), Ph.D. (Leipzig) and Hon. Litt.D. (Manchester and Dublin). He wrote a number of books dealing with the literature of Germany.
