John Robertson (?–1897)

Since the date of our last issue news has been received of the death of a very old Queensland pastoralist, Mr. John Robertson, of Mount Abundance station, at Benview, Falkirk, Scotland. The deceased gentleman was born at Falkirk, Stirlingshire, and after considerable farming experience in Stirlingshire came to Australia in 1863. He was shortly afterwards appointed manager of Mount Abundance and Nive Downs stations for the Scottish Australian Investment Company Limited, also acting as inspector and advisor to the company in pastoral matters. Mr. Robertson was at one time a partner with Sir Thomas Mcllwraith in Eurella station, and was also owner, at various times, of Teeswater, Maranoa district, and Roxburgh and Barclay Downs, in the North-western district. Some years ago Mr. Robertson succeeded to the family estate of Condie, near Falkirk, and returned to Scotland.
