Frank Villeneuve Nicholson (1843–1898)

The death is recorded of Frank Villeneuve Nicholson, who after a long illness passed away at his late residence, Herston, at 3 o'clock on the 22nd instant. Since his arrival in the colony, about thirty years ago, he was engaged in pastoral pursuits, until the last four years, when he was appointed Inspector of Brands, which position he held in Maryborough up to the time of his death. In his early days Mr. Nicholson served with considerable distinction as brevet-captain under General Garibaldi, in the Neapolitan campaign of 1860.
