John Newman (?–?)

On the 10th of last December, at his residence, in the Mauritius, John Newman, Esq., aged 50 years. Director of Her Majesty's Botanic Gardens at Pamplemousses, in that Island, the brother of Mr. F. W. Newman, of this colony. A residence of twenty-four years as Director of the Royal Garden at the Mauritius had endeared him to all the gentry of that colony. His remains were followed to their last resting-place by all the principal officers, civil and military.
