Keen regret was expressed in Melbourne Jewish circles yesterday at the announcement of the death of Mrs. Annie Jacobs, wife of Mr. Isaac Jacobs (of the States Tobacco Companies), which occurred at her residence, Airlie, St. Kilda road, yesterday morning. Mrs. Jacobs, who was 69 years of age, came to Australia from Brighton, England, 54 years ago, and the whole of her Australian residence was spent in Melbourne. The deceased lady was to all appearances in her usual state of health when retiring on Monday night, but at half-past 3 o'clock yesterday morning she was seized by heart failure, to which she succumbed half-an-hour later. Mrs Jacobs leaves nine children, the best known of whom are Mr. L. P. Jacobs (managing director of the States Tobacco Company), Mrs. Isaacs (wife of Mr. Justice Isaacs), Mrs. Harry Levy (of Sydney), Mr. Arthur Jacobs (of Messrs Levy and Co., Melbourne) and Mr. P. A. Jacobs (barrister, of Melbourne). The funeral will take place in the Jewish Cemetery at 3 o'clock this afternoon.
