George Henry Hughes (?–1940)

The death has occurred at Edgecliff of Mr. George Henry Hughes second son of the late Colonel and Mrs. John Hughes, of Dawlish, Devon. He was educated at Westward Ho college and spent many years at Ouvahkellie, Lindula, Ceylon, where he associated himself with the life of the country, and was chairman of the Dimbula Planting Association and agent for various companies.

Mr. Hughes married the youngest daughter of the late Sir Francis and Lady Suttor, of Bathurst, New South Wales, and had been living for some time in Sydney. He is survived by his wife. His only child, Alistair, died three years ago as the result of a motor accident in Victoria.

The funeral service was held at St Mark's, Darling Point, yesterday afternoon, after which the remains were privately cremated.
