This young officer, killed on August 7, whilst acting as second in command of the Light Horse, left Australia with the Second Expeditionary Forces towards the end of last year, and prior to proceeding to the front was married in November last to Miss Florence Grace Pearson, daughter of Mrs. and the late Mr. J. Ford Pearson, of Adelaide. The young widow gave birth to a son on October 21. He was the third son of Mr and Mrs Walter Henty of The Caves, Hamilton and was educated at Hamilton College. He was connected with the Hamilton troop of the Australian Light Horsefor seven years, and about four years ago gained a commission, which he carried with him into active service.  His loss is deeply deplored in the Hamilton district where he was held in high esteem.
