Michael Philip (Phil) Fox (1859–1933)

Mr. Michael Philip Fox, late of Glenhuntly road, Elsternwick, barrister and solicitor, who died on Thursday, aged 74 years, was a member of the firm of Phillips, Fox, and Masel. He was honorary solicitor to the Queen Victoria Memorial Hospital and to the Victorian Bush Nursing Association, and he was secretary for many years of the Malvern branch of the University Extension Movement, and later secretary of the University Extension Board. He was secretary of the committee which arranged the Marshall Hall orchestral concerts, and afterward of the Lady Northcote Permanent Orchestra Board, and he continued to be a member of the board until his death. In all musical matters he took a keen interest. He was a member of the committee of the Women's Work Exhibition which was held in the Exhibition Building in 1907, and he did valuable work in bringing it to a successful conclusion. He is survived by a widow, a married daughter (Mrs Shirley Schneider) and a son, Mr Philip Moerlin Fox. He was a brother of Mr. Joel Fox, general manager of the Equity Trustees Co Ltd, and of Messrs David Fox, L. J. Fox, and the late E. Phillips Fox.
