Gilbert Ridley Drake-Brockman (1882–1937)

Mr. Gilbert Ridley Brockman, 55, of Phillip street, Glenelg, who died on Saturday in a private hospital at Glenelg, had a knowledge of the farming community throughout the Commonwealth. He was a son of Thomas Drake-Brockman of Gingin, Western Australia, and received his education at Guildford. For many years he was manager of the importing business of A. J. Diamond at South Fremantle. Coming to South Australia he came field superintendent of Case Farm Produce Co. Ltd. During the past three years he has been associated with Commercial Motor Vehicles. Ltd. Mr. Brockman's father was among the first pastoralists to take up land in Western Australia. The family is descended from Francis Drake. The late Mr. Brockman has two sons. One is associated with the firm of W. R. Carpenter and Co. New Guinea, and Captain Aubrey Brockman is a member of the Staff Corps at Toowoomba, Queensland.
