Harry Michael Davies (1855–1933)

Mr. Harry Michael Davies who died suddenly yesterday at his home Kalimna, Gippsland Lakes, was widely known in Victoria. He was a son of the late Mr. John Davies of the Mercury, Hobart and the Tasmanian Mail, and a brother of the late Mr. C. E. Davies, M.L.C., Sir George Davies and Mr. Frank Davies. Mr. Davies as a young man took up a grazing property in Queensland. Subsequently he came to Victoria and joined Gordon and Gotch Pty. Ltd. of which company he was a director for a number of years in association with his brother, Mr. Frank Davies. During the last 20 years Mr. Davies had been the proprietor of Kalimna the popular tourist resort at the Gippsland Lakes. He took an active part in Freemasonry, and was a Past Master of the Austral Temple Lodge. Mr. Davies was aged 78 years. He leaves a widow, a son, and two daughters.
