from Pastoral Review
It is with sorrow we report the death of James Troubridge Critchell, who for many years acted as manager and special Meat Trade reporter for the Pastoral Review in London. A few years ago he underwent a serious operation in Sydney whilst on a tour round the world, but to everyone's surprise reached England, married the lady who took charge of him en route, and settled down to a country life in Essex. Only three days before receiving the cable notifying his death (which occurred on the 7th inst.) letters arrived from him saying he felt wonderfully fit, and was going to Brighton for a change. James Critchell was a very able man in many ways, and had made an intense study of the frozen meat trade. In conjunction with our present manager, Mr. Joseph Raymond, he published in 1912 the History of the Frozen Meat Trade, a book which is certainly, the classic of that trade. Personally, he was a most lovable man, and our deepest sympathy goes out to his widow.
