Alice Sydney Burvett (1857–1919)

The death occurred at Ballarat on Monday of Miss Alice Burvett, sister of Inspector Burvett, of the Commonwealth Treasury. Miss Burvett, who was professionally known as Miss Alice Sydney, was a brilliant pianist, who received her tuition in Europe, and subsequently appeared before the Prince and Princess of Wales (the late King Edward and Queen Alexandra). An English tour was followed in 1883 by a tour of Australia. The funeral took place at Melbourne cemetery yesterday.
