Stanley Bowden Burtinshaw (1890–1949)

Stanley Burtinshaw, leading Australian amateur sprint cyclist about 1914, was fatally injured to-day in a car accident.

Burtinshaw, a dentist in Young and a well-known sportsman in the south-west, was driving a car, which left the road near Young and struck an embankment.

His wife and son, Michael, were injured and admitted to hospital.

As a cyclist in his younger days, Burtinshaw's outstanding performance was to win four Australian titles in one day.
