Alfred Ernest Bright (1869–1938)

Mr. Alfred Ernest Bright, 69, a member of the firm of Gibbs, Bright & Co., who became ill last month, died this afternoon at his home at Sorrento.

The elder son of the late Mr. Charles Edward Bright and the Hon. Mrs. Bright, he was educated at Melbourne Grammar School and Eton College, England. He was a leader in Victorian commerce for many years, and was president of the Associated Chambers of Commerce in 1928-29. He was created C.B.E. in 1918.

Mr. Bright is survived by a widow, three sons, two of whom are married, and a daughter by a previous marriage who is living in England.
